The power industry, which remained relatively stable for decades, is now undergoing revolutionary changes, especially with the establishment of power market. The changing scenarios of power system and the rapid development of computer technology have been making profound changes to the Power Dispatching Automation System (PDAS) in almost every aspect. The PDAS will surely develop into an integrated network, and it is the imperative need of current PDAS to implement the information exchange and the interoperability between utility applications that are substantially inhomogeneous and distributed, which is called information integration. This thesis is devoted to the relative problems in this field. To make an open system is the ultimate destination of information integration. This thesis tries to clarify the connotation of so-called open system and proposes a concise working definition. The definition describes the openness of integrated PDAS, according to the standards it follows, its portability and its interoperability, which makes the realization of open system operable. The standardization of power system information model is the precondition of information integration. The standard Common Information Model (CIM) and the issue of its extension are studied in detail. This thesis also studies the fundamental principles of information integration and the open architecture of PDAS. After that, following the standard of IEC61970, using CIM XML as data exchange language whose semantic is based on CIM, combining the predominance of CORBA and CIM XML, this thesis proposes a more open application integration architecture of PDAS. This thesis also discusses the relative integration issues of legacy systems and introduces the method to promote software reuse of traditional EMS.The Agent based systems can realize semantic interoperability and adapt to the dynamic change of PDAS executing environment, which is a higher level of information integration. This thesis finally discusses the Multi-Agent System (MAS) architecture for PDAS that based on CORBA integration systems, which is more open and flexible.
