A Study On TunBingBao Street Of ShengLi Town Of LuoTian County In HuBei Province

This case study is part of the study of the ancient towns in HuBei province. The study come from the project of the Construction Department of HuBei province which was presided over by my tutor, professor Li Baihao. Though the studies on TunBingBao street of ShengLi town of LuoTian county, we try to explore the values such as history, culture, politics, economy and revolutionary education of the street by the studies focus on three aspects: history, city design and architecture. We also want to propagandize the features of the excellent regionally culture of TunBingBao street so as to present the sustainable methods for ShengLi town.The paper is composed of seven chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The content from the second chapter to the sixth one is the main body of the paper. It discusses the development of the historical process of the street, the organization of the town's space, the features of the public space (street and route), the type and features of the building on the street,. Finally, the paper presents the conception for the protection and usage of the street. The seventh chapter draw a conclusion and present the further study on the street.The first chapter is introduction of the study. It present the purpose, meaning, object, content, method, routine of the study as well as the present condition of the ancient streets and towns.The second chapter discuss the location of TunBingBao street by the studies emphasizing on the location of traffic, military affairs and the natural environment. Though the analysis of the historical course of evolution of TunBingBao street which got his beginning by the military affairs and prosperity by the commence, the paper try to find out the most important factors who acted the indispensable roles in the course of his evolution, so as to open out the deep historical connotation of the street.Based on the results of the historical studies of the second chapter, the third chapter discuss the features of the space layout of the ShengLi town. The evolutional course and the manners of the development of the town's space are studied in the chapter also.Beginning from discussions of the space factors, the forth chapter deeply analyze the space structure of the street as "one line, town centre, four Jia" by the point of view of urban design. After the analyses on the street space, node space and the laneway space, the shape of the street distinguish itself with the feathers such as economic occupation of the ground, parallel border with the river, artistic levity. Then the chapter tries to conclude the landscape feathers of the street. Finally, the chapter explores the interaction between the human's behaviors and the street space.The fifth chapter classifies the buildings in the street with the principles of function and space arrangement. The local space arrangement, the decorations on the facade, the conformation of the buildings are studied in this chapter as the important feathers of the buildings so as to open out the meaning of the buildings and provide the correlative basement for the conservation and usage plan for TunBingBao street.Based on the investigations and the estimations on several aspects of the street such as population, ground occupation, traffic situation and the space environment, the sixth chapter present the conception of the conservation and utilization plan for TunBingBao street with the guidance of the results of the previous studies.The seventh chapter draws a conclusion for this paper and suggests the deeper study on the street.
