The paper adopt an optimal method of the minimizing for reliability evaluation of distribution systems which takes many real factors into consideration, and then programs relevant software. The results can also help engineers to find weak point of a distribution system under investigation and take some corresponding improving measures. Moreover the paper compares every factor of reliability of distribution systems, and gets some useful conclusion in reliability of distribution systems. A reconfiguration search approach in distribution network based both reliability of system and feeder losses presented in this paper .Being an objective function both to maximize the reliability and to minimize the loss of distribution network considering operation limit as constraint conditions, an optimal method of reconfiguration the minimizing both the Average Service Unavailability Index and Feeder Losses is described in this paper. The improved genetic algorithm using in this paper is proposed based on ranking selection and direct comparison in genetic operation. Test results on AnKang's practical distribution network are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the whole algorithm.
