The Application Research Of Product Data Management In Simulation-based Warship Development And Evaluation

Modern warships are integration of high-tech products, and the design and manufacturing of warships are a tremendous and complex project. Many shortcomings occur in civil warship development, and with the development of information technology and computer technology, distributed environment-based virtual-simulation technology provides effective way to solve these problems. Simulation-based Warship Development and Evaluation System uses virtual reality, simulation, network, product data management (PDM), etc, integrates warship CAD, CAM and CAE in distributed environment and forms a warship virtual-simulation development system including demonstration, design, manufacturing, test, and service.PDM is a key technology of Simulation-based Warship Development and Evaluation System, and is also a key technology solving the shortcomings of traditional warship development. PDM has great potential in implementing information integration and improving management level.At first, this thesis introduces PDM's main functions, for example electronic warehouse and document management, workflow and process management, product structure and configuration management, change management and PDM framework.There are many softwares about PDM in the world. Compared with other softwares, Windchill has already been used in the shipyard and made good results, while others haven't been used in the shipyard. So this thesis introduces Windchill's web-based three tiers structure and Windchill's application development.In Chapter 4, this thesis introduces the PDM's framework of warships development and evaluation system at first. Then this thesis introduces the system's functions in detail: document management, project management, change management, product structure management and system integration. In document management, it introduces document types, document properties, how to customize WTDocument to get NEIDcoument, how to creat document in HTML and document lifecycle and workflow, and gives an example. In project management, it introduces project types,project properties, creating project, project lifecycle and workflow and project monitoring. In change management, it introduces complex change process and simple change process, and gives an example. In product structure management, it introduces how to create part and product structure. In system integration, it introduces integration mode and integration method.Finally, after making a summary, it points out what need further study.
