With the development of information science and technology, management mode and productive conception in manufacturing enterprises are being changed. Today manufacturing progress is influenced profoundly by network technology. It makes the network technology play more and more important role in running an enterprise in the mode of the globalization and agility.In fact, the capability of product innovation in the characteristic of the globalization and agility is the decisive factor to make an enterprise successful in the 21st century. In this case, the presentation of novel product has to depend on using new design tools over the network since traditional CAD are pseudo-multi-users, and cannot completely satisfy the needs of network-based collaborative work. Based on this point of view, the author proposed a novel architecture to implement a kind of distributed collaborative design on network. The innovative work can bring the qualitative evolution of CAD system structure, provide a design tool to implement the next generation manufacturing technology towards the 21st century, and bring a far-reaching influence on the application of electronic commerce in the engineering field.The main contents of this dissertation are listed as follows.The principle and research contents of distributed collaborative design were discussed. The model and system structure were presented.In the aspect of distributed collaborative design process management, the intergraded multi-view model, the hierarchical structure and the implementing model were discussed.To share resource is achieved.
