Harmonic gear drive is a new- type drive technique that having developed in recent decades. It transfers motion and power depending on the flexible deformation of the flexspline. For this reason, the design of the harmonic gear drive system is complex. It is inefficiency and costly to design in traditional technology. As a new kind of design method, numerical calculation can accomplish parameterize design. It can find limitations of products in the designing phase. We can modify and improve the design, enhance the efficiency and quality of the design, and reduce the cost accordingly. Computer simulation mostly carries the simulation through some complicated element. Through emulation, we may visually see movement of element. It may reduce needless waste in the course of examination. Therefore, the application of numerical computation and computer simulation in the design of harmonic gear drive is significance.The thesis mostly carries numerical computation and computer simulation through the harmonic gear drive. Through the development of UG, the numerical computation module in this paper achieves the numerical computation of the harmonic gear derive system. Computer simulation mostly carries the simulation through harmonic gear drive. This module uses VC++ as the compiling environment, connects the design-calculation program with the graphic interface of UG by the develop module. The users select "design of harmonic gear drive" in the main menu of UG, then select "numerical computation of flexspline", enter into the design module, We may select "press of gear work surface" , "calculation of flexspline fatigable intension", "torsion procreant the shearing strength in the flexspline" , "critical value of torsion shearing strength in the section of flexspline" , "torsion procreant calculate value of the shearing strength in the flexspline" and "stability checkage of flexspline canister body" in the "numerical computation of flexspline" dialogue box., import the initial parameters of design. Having been confirmed, these basic parameters are passed by UG to the design program programs by C and VC++, and then the calculation of these parameters are realized, impress basic design data to info window. Computer simulation mostly adopt scenario for motion of UG. We add some inhibit in the constructional part, then carry the simulation through joggle of circlespline and flexspline.It mainly realize the simulation to numerical computation and computer simulation of theharmonic gear drive in research of thesis.
