Electric power is the most widely used energy in the world nowadays. It is crucial to ensure the safe and stable operation of electric power system. As early as the end of 19th century, overcurrent relay has been used to protect electric power system. After a century of development, relay protection has entered an era of microcomputer. Along with the development of relay protection, relay protection test devices and test technology also progress unremittingly. Microcomputer Relay protection test device appeared in 1990s. In the new situation of Chinese power industry development, it's hard to fill the need for the old style microcomputer relay protection test device's control core, test logic and user interface. As a result, it is significant to research the late-model microcomputer relay protection test device.This topic researches and develops the late-model microcomputer relay protection test device based on DSP core controller and embedded microcomputer. The research returns have been put into real application and have good effects.In the late-model microcomputer relay protection test device, software plays a more important role. Software has risen to the level of software platform. This paper analyzes the architecture and function requirements of microcomputer relay protection test device based on DSP core controller and embedded microcomputer., and researches and implements software platform, which is suitable for dual usage modes and many test projects, based on the analysis. Practice has proved that the software platform has high reliability, efficiency, and usablity.This paper first introduces the background, purpose and meaning of the topic, and inquiries into the development status and technical points of microcomputer relay protection test devices. It next analyzes the requirements of the software platform in detail, including the communication interface, test logic aiming at various test projects, and the interact interface. It then designs and implements the communication interface, including the PCI driver and the Client Server software. It next designs and implements the OfficeXP&WindowsXP alike user interface of the software platform. It then designs and implements the test logic aiming at various test projects of the software platform, including basic tests, the group test, the distance protection test. The end makes a conclusion of the whole paper, points out the innovations of the software platform, and look into the future of it.
