During the building, maintaining and reconstructing of port engineering in our country, on one hand, we must guarantee the structure which will be built safely, on the other hand, we must strengthen the research of diagnosing, maintaining and consolidating of existing buildings. Structural reliability incorporates synthetically the safety and economy of their life. Therefore, the research on this respect has important theoretical and actual meaning."The unified standard for structure reliability design of port engineering" (GB50158-92), according to different pattern which members will occur such as brittleness damage and ductility damage after reaching critical state, has analyzed the reliability of single member and given its corresponding reliability index. However, for structural system, raising merely the reliability of simple members can not completely reach the purpose of raising systematic reliability. Besides, structural optimization design, monitoring, decision-making, evaluating of existing structure reliability, sensitivity analyzing of members and local to system make requirements for structural system reliability research.High pile wharf, as a major wharf structural type, has extensive application.
