Basing on the survey of the layers' existing situation and geology, the paper discusses comparatively the cause of formation and the geologic feature of gravel layers in area of Yaan of Sichuan province, the paper demonstrates the engineering measure of the gravel slope combining some removal work according to the slope shoring theory.The mechanics behavior of the gravel layers is comparatively bad especially after soaking. The collapsing and slipping of slope are the typical geological defects that induce the collapsing of slope in cuttings and some embankments. The defects most take place surface or deep layer and influence the normal running of the railway in two seasons. Therefore, various treatments should be taken to remove the defects of embankment, including shoring, slope protection and drainage.This paper examines comprehensively the defects lying in K210+701—+900 of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway and takes the treatment of gravity retaining walls and other treatments. The design of retaining wall is accord with the mechanics request after testing and calculating.According to the present operation situation, the embankment is in stability and the defects have been eliminated. The measure taken in this article is feasible and economical.
