The operating state of the locomotive is very important to security of the whole railway system. Monitoring the operating state of the locomotive and maintaining locomotive guarantee locomotive work healthily. Originally locomotives are maintained periodically. Not only This maintaining method makes cost high, but also the effect of this method is not good. Because locomotives become more and more faster, researching on-line monitoring and diagnosing system for locomotive is one purpose of many locomotive department.During researching locomotive state real-time monitoring system the author finishes this thesis. After comparing some popular field bus, the author builds a distributed system based on CAN bus. The whole system is divided into several modules according to different equipments of locomotive. In each part, the hardware circuit is designed and the software for CAN Bus is programmed. The real-time monitoring system can detect LKJ-93, the voltage of power net, traction motor and the fault display screen etc.. CF card is used in this system, which solve data storage of this system. The real-time data, about locomotive state is transmitted to Expert System in maintenance department. After finishing the whole system, the author takes many experiments on the locomotives. And the results prove the whole scheme is feasible.In the appendix, it is given the pictures of each part.
