Architectural Design In Details

Architectural design is a continuously improving process that considering from the whole to the part and to the detail again and again. Architectural detail is the important part of the whole building,and design in detail is an absolutely necessary part of the design processes. Monolithic design is surely important,but the design of the details also can not be neglected. The importance of Architectural detail not only embodies in a certain practicability demand that can meet the building, but also lies in the embodiment of aesthetic value, the society and culture characteristic. The content of Architectural detail is quite abundant. The elevation, level, form and interior space of Architecture all made up of the details. In this paper only the elevation detail is discussed. This paper,through an analysis of elevation detail of the building,,clears up the order and logic inside the details of architecture, draws the concrete method that the details are designed, and guides the creation of the architecture. In chapter one, the concept, intension and extension of the details are put out. Chapter two begins with the study on the origin of the architectural details, and then the form and style evolution on the architectural details are discussed along the Chinese and western history. In Chapter three, the function, scale, technology and aesthetics of the details are analyzed and its society and culture characteristic is also discussed. In chapter four, the principle that should be observed in the detail design is put forward. Some design ploys to offer the practice feasibility are summarized by comparing and analyzing many examples of the architectural detail in chapter five. At last, in chapter six from such respects as the roof, wall, window and entry, grow and step, etc., we combine many examples to analyse.
