With the rapid improvement and development of the computer and the technique on auto control, the test and control technique is adopted commonly in many fields. At the same time, the request for the system of automatical test and control becomes higher and higher with the further study and development in these fields.The system of driving and braking is quested for and studied due to the rapid development of urban railway transportation in China. In this paper, the test and control software was developed, which includes the control subsystem of driving and braking characteristics, real-time emulate of train running and data acquisition and disposal, on the base of the experiment flat system of the driving and braking of railway vehicle. The instantaneous values of the main parameters are acquired with the computer for industry and data acquisition card under the condition of driving and braking. These parameters include the moment and rotate speed of electromotor, electric current and voltage of traction choppers under diverse conditions. The varieties of the parameters show us real-timely. The monitor system can storage the acquired data. Then these data are disposed with the method of traction calculation. These disposed data can be used to control the moment and rotate speed of the experimental electromotors so that we can implement the simulate of the driving system of the railway vehicle on the experiment flat, which is implemented on the scheduled route and load with the Real-time control of driver handle under the conditions of driving and electric brake.This paper discussed detailedly the calculation gist of the test and control software of the driving and braking. The main structure and function of the procedure are implemented via the communication software— VB. One is the serial-communication between the computer and the inverter and the other is that the inverter is used to control the speed and torque of the motor. In thissystem, the engineering Siemens inverter uses USS protocol and connects with the standard RS-485 convertor which can communicate between a PC computer and the Siemens inverter through their interface of the serial-communication. The real-time control to the speed and torque of the motor group is implemented. The experimentation indicates that this system can work reliably and achieve the prospective goal. The software and hardware integrated in the system, which implemented the task of the project wanted and attained the expectant goal by experiment. The design of the system can be used in the control system of electric traction of railway vehicle and air & electric combined braking. It is also helpful in the development of the driving convertor and electromotor and contributes to the localization of urban railway vehicles.
