Study On The Form Constitution Characterize Mountain & Water Of Modern Mountain Area Residence

"Fish dies without water; water is not water if lost fish."This old Chinese saying indicates the interdependent relationship between matter and its environment. In the current procedure of mountain area residence exploitation and development, indiscriminate construction with ignorance to the natural mountains and water is common occurrence. The style of mountain residences is simple and dull and follows the same pattern, which lost the specific characteristics of being interdependent with mountains and water and result in grievous ecocide and destruction to the town landscape. Therefore, in the background of speeding up city development and smooth implementation of the "Great West Development"in China, based on the reality of big numbers of towns in mountain area and their most existence in west China, with efficient and effective use of the advantage of the natural environmental resources of mountain and water to create comfortable living space in the mountain area that fit the natural environmental characteristics is of great theoretical value and current significance. The form of mountain area residence with mountain-water characteristics consists of many elements, among which "mountain"and "water", as two fundamental elements, play quite important role in the form constitution. According to the systematic perspective, by using the methodology of "break-down, correlate, synthesize", this dissertation explores and researches the form constitution of modern mountain area residence. There are four parts of this dissertation: Part one, it researches on traditional Chinese mountain-water related residential culture and modern mountain-water city residential theories which are the basis and background information of this research. Part two, by "break-down"analysis, it analyses the main elements that form the mountain area residence with mountain-water characteristics, propose the application of systematic method in this study. Part three, by "correlate"analysis, taking the elements of "mountain"and "water"as the leading factors, it investigates the general and particular regularity of the form of residential area. And also studies the engineering facilities of mountain-water related residential area and its characteristic form. Part four, by "synthesize"study, with synthesis of the main elements that form the mountain area residence, it tries to realise the best optimization of the entire form of the mountain area residence with mountain-water characteristics, supported by living examples.
