In order to guarantee the vehicle to run normally under different condition and have good power performance and fuel economy, the chief function of the vehicle power train system design is matching power between engine and each part of drive line. Establishing the dynamic model of power train system is the foundation of the vehicle design, matching and performance research. Because of the inconvenience due to the complicated modeling and time-consuming debugging, the adoption of professional software to accomplish modeling and simulation research is not only timesaving and makes the modeling process simplified, but also assures the program to run reliably with convenient debugging and exact results. The CRUISE developed by AVL Company is used in this paper to simulate power performance and fuel economy of the SC7130 sample car which is equipped with automatic mechanic transmission, and the results are analyzed through comparing to the experimental results. Further more, the parameters of the power train are optimized using the simulation results, establishing the foundation on improving the automatic mechanic transmission system. The concrete research contents are listed as follows: (1) According to the data of engine experiment, the external characteristic curve and partial load characteristic of engine are drawn. Engine torque model and fuel consumption model are constructed using spline interpolation method. This model is the foundation of the research in power performance and fuel economy of AMT vehicle. (2)Based on the analysis of the operation principle, dynamic working characteristic and manipulation characteristic of the diaphragm spring clutch, the process of clutch contact is modeled for the establishment of the clutch control strategy. The function demand of automatic transmission are analyzed; and the dynamic model of shift control process is also accomplished for the establishment of the kinetics, fuel economy and synthesis shift rules, base the use of CRUISE to simulate and analyze the performance of AMT vehicle. (3)The function, and its characteristics, the program construction and application of the CRUISE are studied. Aim at the clutch and transmission control in AMT vehicle, the control model is chosen, and the setting, choice and adjustment of parameters and performance are accomplished. (4) The power train system model, driver model, road and operation condition model are founded based on CRUISE. The power performance and fuel economy of SC7130 sample car equipped with automatic mechanic transmission are simulated, and the results are also analyzed. (5) The component and principle of AMT vehicle's experimental control system are introduced in this paper. With the SC7130 car as sample, the road performance experiment of AMT vehicle is accomplished, and the veracity of the system model founded by this software is validated.
