Healthcare information data is various and procedure is complicated, and the application area of healthcare services broadens and deepens. Data management is the key of healthcare information system, so a new healthcare information system (HIS) realizing internal information integration and data sharing, realizing the integration across organization and area is needed. In this way the healthcare organizations can quickly exchange and share patients' information and the comprehensive lifetime healthcare record of the patient can be available. The existing HIS usually focuses on patients' charge and management information, whereas, no effective measures have been taken to handle the healthcare information and to ensure its integrality and accuracy. As of the architecture of current HIS, it is usually based on the C/S model. Different system platforms and non-standardized information format seriously block the intercommunion between different institutions. In order to satisfy the development of the new healthcare service, we made an in-depth study on the experiences and lessons in enterprise informationization construction. With the guidance of CIMS and PDM thoughts, we adopt the advanced computer and network technology and propose a construction plan for patients' lifetime HIS in which the patients' lifetime healthcare information is managed effectively and the hospital's internal and external integration can be realized.The paper takes seven chapters to discuss in details the implementation thoughts and methods of the patients' lifetime HIS. The domestic and overseas development of HIS, together with the main work of this paper, is presented in the Chapter One. Chapter Two introduces the integration thoughts adopted in the field of CIMS, then deeply discuss the function and methods of the product data management technology (PDM), finally analyze the feasibility and necessity of using CIMS to guide the construction of HIS. Because standardization is the life of the HIS, Chapter Three analyze some standardization problems in existing systems and introduce several standards referred to in this paper, such as ICD-10,HL7 and DICOM. In Chapter Fourthe construction thoughts of patients' lifetime HIS is deeply described, including the concept and meaning of patients' lifetime healthcare information, the objective of this HIS and the concrete method of system implementation. In the respect of internal information management, we referred to many methods adopted in PDM technology, such as data vault, workflow and process control, product structure management, etc. The object-oriented method is used in modeling patients' lifetime healthcare information and method for integration of autonomous hospital is also discussed. In light of the thoughts proposed in Chapter Four. Chapter Five describes data management methods of the patients' lifetime HIS such as CPR, process control and integration management technology, etc.. Chapter Six describes the prototype system and introduce the architecture,key technologies and some functional modules.In this system we adopted technologies such as J2EE,JSP and javabean. Chapter Seven makes a summary of the major research work and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of this system.
