With the rapid development and intensifying market competition of domestic and foreign shipbuilding industry, many shipbuilding enterprises are confronting to many new business requirements such as profit increase, cost decrease, R&D cycle curtail, etc. The production process of one ship, as a special product, is complex.The production process of effective management is one way to improve the shipbuilding efficiency and reduce R&D cycle. At present most of the enterprise's production management system, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, is lacking effective management of the manufacturing process. Now PLM system is also confronting the important problem of the lack of process management. This paper regards the research and development of a manufacturing process management system for a large domestic shipyard pipes manufacturing workshop as the background, and the PLM system IntePLM, which is a product of Huazhong University of Science and Technology CAD Center, as development plat. Research and develop one workshop manufacturing process management system combined with the actual needs of the workshop production management.The main content of the paper is as follows:1. Introduce the current situation and management problems of shipyard pipes workshop. The function requirement of the manufacturing process management and state data management system for shipyard pipes manufacturing workshop is brought forward.2. Combine the actual needs of the shipyard workshop. Analyze the process management module of the current PLM system towards project management, workflow management and engineering change management. Generalize the unsuitable aspect of the process management of the current PLM system contrasting the management of pipes workshop.3. A business model of the manufacturing process management system for shipyard pipes manufacturing workshop is created. Combine the actual workshop manufacturing. Design the functional object model and data model which are relative to part manufacturing process.4. Design the structure of the manufacturing process management system combine with the existing structure of IntePLM. Introduce the software and hardware configuration of the management system. The business models and data models has been verified based on some examples of using the system.
