The design of software and hardware of Engine Control Unit (ECU) given in this paper is a part of Automobile electronics project namely the 919 project of Jiankui Group. Based on the research of the principles, characteristics, the latest theories and developing trend in the domestic and overseas researching fields of engine electronic control technologies, the author proposes a new way to design the ECU which combines the 32 bit embedded MCU(MPC563)and real-time operating system(μC/OS-II).In order to improve the speed, stability, data-processing ability of ECU, the MPC563 is adopted to meet the function requirements of ECU. On the base of this idea, the schematic diagram and PCB is designed, including MPC563 system circuit, front channels circuit, back channels circuit, RS-232 serial communication circuit. To ensure it can work correctly in the wicked environment full of high temperature, vibration and strong eradiation of electromagnetism, several anti-jamming measures are introduced. The embedded operating system μC/OS-II is successfully transplanted into MPC563. Based on the platform of μC/OS-II, the application software of ECU and driver of A/D and SCI is designed. By substituting traditional single task mechanism with multi-task mechanism of μC/OS-II, a more real-time, stable, flexible and open ECU system is built. Furthermore, the locally upgrade mechanism is implemented which makes it easy to maintain and update the system, and prolong its life-cycle at the same time.
