With the development of economy, there are more large scale multiple-producing factories and storehouses. Due to the continuity of production technology, the division of fire zone in these areas can not meet the demand of current national fire technology code. Fire safety design is important for evacuation. By summarizing basic concept of performance-based design, comparing it with current prescriptive fire protection design code, and making performance-based analysis of cases, the article draws conclusions as follows on the fire safety design of large scale factories and storehouses that exceed the demand of current code: (1) To set necessary smoke venting installations, and the area of outer windows for natural smoke extraction should not be less than 2% of the building's built-up area; or to set mechanical smoke extraction facilities to guarantee personnel escape; (2) To set fire barrier zone among different operating functions inside of complex industrialized buildings, with a width of more than 6m to meet the fire break demand of buildings with I, II fire rating, according to "Fire Protection Standard for Building Design"; (3) To make performance-based analysis and assessment by using the means of performance-based fire design; and in accordance with the demand of personnel escape and effective cutting-off of fire extension, to rationally regulate fire design according to the result of performance-based analysis; (4) To adequately extend fire zone on such basis, and "Fire Protection Standard for Building Design"is advised to make revision on such problems of fire zone in large scale multiple-producing industrialized buildings.
