With the development of the belt conveyor to high speed, long distance, heavy load and large power, its dynamic behavior is increasingly significant. As an important part of belt conveyor, the tension apparatus for its importance and behavior, is more outstanding in the system dynamic behavior. The traditional static method analyzes the belt conveyor system on the basis of statics at the state of stillness or constant velocity in the condition that the effect the dynamic behavior of tension apparatus has on the whole system is ignored. In practice, the tension apparatus disturbing force acts as a period changing force on the elastomer characteristic belt. When the frequency of disturbing force is equal to the natural vibration frequency of belt, the resonance and heavy dynamic tension will take place in belt. As a result, the dynamic behavior of the tension apparatus should be studied for reflecting the wholecharacteristics of the tension apparatus really and effectively.In this paper, through deeply researching for the viscoelasticity characteristics, the common expression of the motion characteristic was deduced, and the discrete model of the automatic belt conveyor was built. In the process of building model, the initial tension is taken into account except for the viscoelasticity mechanical property, running resistance force, the mass force of the tension apparatus, and the Young's modulus in the case of variation of flexibility. And the simulation of the start-up operating condition was carried through, by which we concluded that the rules of the variation of the belt tension and the displacement of the strain rolling drum with strain forces. Under the direct of these rules we can restrict or eliminate the elastic vibration of the belt in the procession of acceleration and deceleration, and prevent the oversize and the undersize of local stress in the belt. What we have done makes essence to ensure the security running of the belt conveyor, optimize and economize the parameter. It will provide the theory foundation for the optimization of tension apparatus, dynamic lectotype andlectotype and autocontrol.
