Belt conveyor is the most important equipment for bulk material transportation, with the long distance, high speed. continuous transportation, with large-capacity belt conveyors appear, production efficiency has been greatly improved, but also brought a lot of technical and economic issues, therefore, detecting technology of belt conveyor demand is higher and higher. On the other hand, in recent years, advances in technology makes the computer and software technology has been rapid development, based on the computer and software of virtual instrument will become the development direction of the test area. Therefore, this paper uses advanced the development platform of virtual instrument LabVIEW, USB-6229 multi-function data collection card, combined with sensors and belt conveyor experiment device, developed a belt conveyor dynamic performance test system, and explore the virtual instruments in belt conveyor testing field application.This paper introduced the basic theory of virtual instrument technique, the basic method and its application field, virtual instrument software development platform is the U.S. NI company development and production of LabVIEW software, choice of system structure is PC-DAQ system structure, based on belt conveyor original experiment device, then configuration sensors, data acquisition card and signal disposal machines etc hardware equipment composition belt conveyor tension detection system. Software part is the core of virtual instrument, the belt conveyer examination system uses modular the design concept, the main module function can be achieved are:data acquisition module, data processing module, signal analysis, data file storage module, and so on, the paper realize the belt conveyor tension, speed dynamic graphical display and analog meter, and each operation parameters of the data storage and printing, etc.In this paper, testing the dynamic performance of the belt conveyor by virtual instrument technology, the experimental result indicated that this system can achieve the project objective, the software simplicity of operator is convenient. Compares with the traditional belt conveyer examination system, virtual instrument has the obvious superiority and provids the good solution for the belt conveyer dynamic characteristic. Virtual instrument technology is used for testing dynamic characteristics of belt is only a try that Virtual instrument to detect the dynamic performance of belt conveyor. In the future the Virtual instrument's application will be able to be more widespread.
