High buildings of our country grows vigorously in recent years, and their characteristics are higher height, More complicated forms, More complete functions and stronger comprehensiveness. Structural lateral displacement becomes the main control index due to greater influence of horizontal loading to high-rise structures. 20th century at the beginning of the sixties, in order to decrease structural lateral displacement, putting up horizontal strengthened stories have made better economy and structural effect in North America, Europe, Japan and other places. Engineers of our country adopt this kind of structure and constructed some large-scale constructions in recent years, and this kind of structural system have been used in our country. Study of effect mechanism and analysis of optimum location on putting up horizontal strengthened stories have very important realistic meaning for producing the direct economic benefits. According to requirements of 'Technology Regulations on High Buildings Structure', Function mechanism of decrease structural lateral displacement, of enhance resist-lateral rigidity and optimum location on putting up horizontal strengthened stories have been analysed aiming at different structure forms and different calculate models in structure. By using the structure design and analysis software ETABS that analyse the change of internal forces in structure with regard to strengthened stories and no strengthened stories.The necessity have been expatiated and reasons have been analysed about the change of internal forces in structure after putting up horizontal strengthened stories combining the engineering examples, and optimizational design methods are discussed in best quantity and optimum location on setting up strengthened stories. A serials of problems are put forward in seismic design, and some effective measures and solutions are supplied, and design suggests are proposed on putting up horizontal strengthened stories to high-rise structures, which bring forward effective basis and very good reference function to the similar high buildings and skyscrapers in seismic design.
