Research Of The Conversion Of Traditional Power Protocol Toword IEC61850

With the rapid development of electronics technology, computer technology andcommunication technology, a higher requirement is brought forward on functions andcapabilities of the telecontrol communication system. It has been a trend to transmitpower information based on network. Because IEC 61850 has the advantages ofhierarchy, uniform object-oriented modeling and adaptability of different networks andso on, it has been selected as the base of seamless telecontrol communicationarchitecture. This paper analyzes the IEC 61850 standard and discusses the conversion oftraditional protocol facing to dot technique toword IEC 61850. It also puts forward amethod of connecting the substation to the seamless telecontrol system by a protocolsconversion gateway.This paper based on IEC 61850 standard realization, takes CDTprotocol as the representative of traditional protocol, studies the theory of conversingCDT protocol to IEC 61850, and designs a conversion gateway using the technique ofserial communication, information modeling and XML etc to realize the conversionprocess.
