With the smart grid vigorously promoted, transmission line condition monitoring as a part of the smart grid also need informatization. IEC 61850 is a standard for substation to solve the problem of informatization and the interoperation of equipments. In recent years, there ara many accidents caused by an transmission line faults, such as the 2008 Southern Snowstorm, southwest grid collapse accidents and so on. Therefore, to improve transmission line condition monitoring informatization is imperative. With the gradual advance to the lightweight environment, the application of IEC 61850 standard in modeling transmission line and power transmission for the protection of unity model has certain significance.Firstly, this paper introduces and analyses the core content of IEC61850 standard. The key technology of IEC 61850 consist of :the substation of different function level; object-oriented information model; the communication and functions of IED; substation configuration language(SCL);self-described object-oriented data. Although the standard has made a lot of models of information, but the models on aspects of the transmission line have not yet formed, it is urgent to study the models of the transmission line based on IEC 61850.Secondly, this paper introduces the main transmission line information, and carrys out a detailed study of its involved main functions and data:tower inclination; tower gallop; insulator contamination; transmission line wave; transmission line wind gallop; ice accretion; meteorology; conductor temperature, video surveillance. The general modeling method of IEC 61850 standard is studied, and use this method and these data to establish the models. And then use UML language to describe logical nodes and devices; ultimately complete the appropriate ICD files using SCL language.Finally, the paper have conducted a certain amount of consistency checking for ICD files, and simulated the established model of transmission information in exchanging data(taking Tower Device logical device as an example). The results of experiment show that the established models is in accordance with IEC 61850 standard, and the results have certain references in applications of transmission line with IEC 61850 in the future.
