| Communication technology is the key and core to accomplish distributionautomation system. Presently, the correspondence question has become the bottle-neckof developing distribution automation system. In this paper, according to therequirements of distribution automation (DA) on communication system and the actualcommunication techniques adopted by distribution automation system, The security andcapacity question of using GPRS communication technique to transmit the DAinformation is analyzed and discussed in detail.At the same time, according to theactualities of distribution automation system the practical and feasible network plans areproposed. The analysis results indicate that GPRS can provide reliable wireless accesswith high data rates and be easily utilized for IP network. This scheme is a new solutionto transmit the distribution automation information and offers an ideal communicationsplatform for the combination of electric network system at the same time.
