Solving the conflict between curing performance and hunting stability is always a hard work for a long time in the fields of vehicle system dynamics. Different relevant researcher about this question is briefly introduced at home and abroad;with lateral vibration model of wheel set and vehicle given, this dissertation has induced differential equation and compiled simulation programs;curving performance of wheel set and vehicle is analyses with application of programs.1 curving performance of general bogie and new type self-steering bogie is analyzed by using linear model on curving performance;2 the paper considers great creep force and lateral displacement as well as touching between wheel and rail (flange force), also considers gravitational stiffness and gravitational angular stiffness. Non-linear mathematical model for vehicle with fourteen freedom and relevant differential equation are set up.3 Runge-Kutta method is used to solve equation. MATLAB software is uses to compile simulation programs. Using Modern Bifurcation Theory curving performance is numerical simulated with application of programs;4 programs is used to calculate for vehicle, and obtains Lateral response of wheel set vs. curved track radius, Yaw response of frontal wheel set vs. curved track radius, the curves of Lateral force between wheel and rail and wheel set vs. curved track radius besides the curves of derailment coefficient of frontal wheel set vs. curved track radius. and contrasts general bogie with new type self-steering bogie on curving performance;curving performance is compared by change in primary suspension parameter of new type self-steering bogie, and its curving performance is analyses.Through the analysis gets: free wheel set system presents phenomenon of quasi-periodic solutions developing chaos when speed exceeds critical speed on curved track and should be avoided;curving performance of new type self-steering bogie is better than general bogie;new type self-steering bogie of asymmetrical longitudinal rigidity arrangement in the primary suspension is analyses on curving performance. New type self-steering bogie with yielding frontal wheel set and rigid rear wheel set ,which not only meets the request of curving performance but also improves the hunting stability effectively, can solve the conflict.
