Accompanied with the rapid progress and application of high-rise buildings, various studies on the structural performances have become the focus of attention. Although a large number of research documents can be referenced, the author aims to develop a unique way to test the dynamic characteristics of the high-rise buildings. Beginning with the application of modal analysis methods for high-rise buildings, the author summarizes methods of in-field test, data analysis, and test models of shaking table and makes his own creations. The central idea of this dissertation can be outlined as follows.1. Basic theories of structural vibration tests and modal analysis for high-rise buildings are summarized.2. So called zone testing method of laying measure points for the dynamic characteristics of high-rise buildings on site is proposed.3. Based on previous methods of data analysis for testing the dynamic characteristics of the high-rise buildings, professional software for modal analysis is applied to analyze modes of high-rise buildings.4. Beijing LG Tower and Shanghai Shimao International Plaza are illustrated, and corresponding detailed processes about in-field test are introduced. These processes can be served as significant references to similar projects.5. The professional software is also applied to perform dynamic simulation experiments of shaking table, which attempt to pioneer a new route for data processing of shaking table experiment. Finally, suggestions on research that can be further conducted are put forward.
