With urban development, power network structural problems are exposedgradually, as the growth of distribution network can't satisfy electricity requirement.As a result, it is very necessary to rebuild urban distribution network and improvereliability of power supply. In the view of development, urban power grid rebuildingcharacterize in two aspects: annular power supply mode and cable distribution. Cabledistribution possesses many obvious merits, including improvement of reliability ofpower supply, beautifying circumstance of cities, and boosting up power supplyability of distribution network. Accordingly, urban power network cablingreconstruction is very important in urban power grid rebuilding.The problem, which was studied in this paper, is how to control and lay outreasonably process of cabling reconstruction, namely, form reasonable rebuildingorder of each program (including function area and 10kV distribution line), andestablish an optimal cabling reconstruction scheme. According to the decision, powerdepartment carries out urban cabling reconstruction.In the paper, a new method is proposed firstly urban power network cablingreconstruction based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process. AHP is a convenient methodto analyze unquantificational things in system engineering. The basic idea of urbanpower network cabling reconstruction is that first divided whole urban power grid intoseveral small sections by power supply areas of transformer substations (the 10kV or35kV voltage class here), and then in each substation section, cabling reconstructionscheme of trolly wire is worked out separately. In terms of different qualitative andquantitative criteria, including power network reliability, engineering economy, etc,we can evaluate systematically objects in every power substation and figure outpriority weight of each object. Then, cabling reconstructing preferential order isdecided. So, we achieve the best cabling reconstructing scheme, and maximize socialand economic benefit.Finally, the method is validated by an example. The result of the exampleindicates that the method can consider totally many different factors, utilize expert'sexperiences, adjust objective and rules by people's purposes, and judgment resultaccorded with requirement of factual engineering. In all, the method obtainsreasonable results, and can be a wonderful assistant for decision-makers.
