The Teaching System Of Engineering Mechanics And The Exploitation Of Fictitious Lab

Engineering Mechanics is a basal subject of engineering specialty especially for civil engineering, Materials and Mechanisms. How to teach this class well has become a main topic for many years. With the development of the science and technology, especially the broad applications of Personal Computer, CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) is widely adopt.Web based database application program is a new Web technology after the dynamic Web pages, which marks the maturation and perfection of the development in Web technology. There are some programming languages and developing tools in Web based database application program. PHP combined with MySQL DBMS (Data Base Management System) is one of the most favorite. PHP has the features of platform-independence, high function and ease of use, supporting many DBMSes and simple database manipulation. MySQL is a middle scale relation DBMS being inexpensive with a special advantage of fast running, which is favorable to the utilization in the Web.In this thesis, the course is elaborately arranged by the comparisons of several teaching systems for Mechanics of Materials and considering overseas excellent coursewares so that it is suitable to undergraduate students, self-study students and the students who prepare to pass the Master entrance examinations on contents. Many Flashes are designed to make the theory clear and to simulate the test in this system, which is a useful supplement for testing teaching.The system is mainly programmed using PHP with DBMS using MySQL. It belongs to CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) based on its application fields and represents a Web based database application software according to the type of programme.The thesis presents the techniques of Web based database application program and different computer languages needed in programming. The methods of PHP installations on the Linux+Apache platform and Windows platform are summarized, as well as the features of PHP and the comparisons with other server script language technique. Moreover, the features of MySQL are compared with other DBMS (Database Management System). Besides, the technical points in the programme design and the corresponding solutions are introduced detailedly in different modules.
