Concrete face rock-fill dam (CFRD) is a kind of dam which is developed in recent decades. Because of the unique advantages, the overflow CFRD is a kind of dam type which has rich competitive currently. In domestic and foreign dam circle, people are all universal concern about it. Characters of this type project are that according to dam site terrain and geologic condition, the spillway is disposed on the dam directly. At the same time, using local discardable material adequately, predigesting pivot disposition, construction process is accelerated and the project investment is cut down. With the construction of several overflow concrete face rock-fill dams, the research on it is warm bloomed in our country.In this paper, according the project 《Research on spillway on concrete face rock-fill dam of TongBai pumped Storage Power Station》 , the hydraulic scale model is made. The analysis of model test focuses on measured method and results of hydraulic drag, ventilation quantity, air concentration and characteristics of fluctuation. At the same time, the key methods of the test are also introduced. When measured the hydraulic drag, the direct drag measurement on a steep chute model with four aerators has been conducted. With test data and calculate results comparison, the test data display that the accuracy is enough for the engineering applications. In order to avoid averting spot pressure to area pressure, the self-creat measuring settings of area fluctuating pressures are made and the time history of pressures on the surface are also gained. Furthermore, stabilization of the dam and forces on it are also analyzed simply. As for the overflow chute, modal analysis has been done with software AN AYS.The experimental methods and data in this test are worthy to use reference. From analysis about the key elements of the test and making a summary of measured results, we can get some benefit conclusion for the dam and also can contain advice on the design for spillway in the future.
