As a kind of competitive dam type, concrete face rock-fill dam finds wide rangeof applications in southwest China because of its safety, economy and adaptability.Considering its large construction quantity, tight schedule and high constructionintensity, the transportation system (the system of earth excavation, the transportationsystem to the dam, the transportation system of concrete pouring and othertransportation systems) undertakes the various transportation tasks of the entireproject. Therefore, how to make its arrangements and planning reasonably has animportant impact on the construction progress, investment and safe operation of theentire project. Based on the real-time monitoring system and the characteristics oftransportation system in concrete face rock-fill dam, the high-precision constructionparameters and boundary conditions are obtained in this article. The earthworkallocation process of Liyuan concrete face rock-fill dam is analyzed, and then thetransportation simulation during the period of dam filling is calculated. Furthermore, acomparison between the simulation results and the actual situation analysis is madeand the corresponding improvements are proposed. The main results are as follows:(1) Considering the characteristics of transportation process of concrete facerock-fill dam, the traffic simulation model of concrete face rock-fill dam wasproposed. The entire traffic simulation process was studied by analyzing theinfluencing factors, process description and parameters assumptions.(2) The research on traffic simulation of concrete faced rock-fill dam wasproposed based on the results of earthwork allocation planning and the information ofreal-time monitoring. By analyzing their influence on traffic simulation parametersand boundary conditions respectively, the related simulation data was processed,moreover, the traffic simulation model of Liyuan concrete face rock-fill dam wasdeveloped.(3) The transportation circumstances during the period of dam filling wassimulated by using the achievement of earthwork allocation and data analysis resultsof real-time monitoring information. Results of the traffic simulation and real-timemonitoring results of the transportation to the dam were compared, and a comparativeanalysis and a corresponding improvement were proposed. The achievement provideda effective technical support for improving the precision and reliability of trafficsimulation of concrete face rock-fill dam.
