With the development of the Nation's Economics, the traffic amount increases rapidly and the loads of the bridges bearing are more and more aggravating. Considering the factors of design, construction and age etc., a lot of bridges have been damaged over the days and their carrying capacity have been get down, going so far as to influence their service and need to be maintained or strengthened in time. Facing this situation, we must detect the existing bridge entirely first. Based on the detection, we can assess the bridge and plan out the strengthening scheme on lines of the damage of the existing bridge. With the example of Ganyu-he bridge in Yanbian, the detection, assessment and strengthening are studied in this thesis and abstract it as follows:1. The detection of the existing bridge. The advanced detection means are studied first. In order to know the current work situation of the Ganyu-he bridge, full detection is carried out roundly and detailedly. Father analyze the reason of the diseases.2. The assessment of the existing bridge. The assessing methods are studied first. The finite element model of the bridge is established to have theoretical analyses. According to the load test and the detection result, the bearing capcity of the bridge is assessed.3. The strengthening of the existing bridge. The new strengthening technology and the choice of strengthening project are studied first.According to the detection, assessment and actual service of the existing bridge, the repairing and strengthening scheme and construction technique are expatiated. The engineering practice can be taken as reference by other existing similar bridge construction.
