The end face harmonic gear drive of oscillating teeth belongs to the three dimensional space oscillating teeth gear drive. It overcomes the contradiction between the deformation and bearing capacity of the flexible wheel of the common harmonic gear drive, and it contains the advantages of the common harmonic gear drive and the oscillating teeth drive, but the transmitted power of the end face harmonic gear drive is enhanced enormously. The new kind of transmission theory introduced in this article has been applied for patent (the application number is 200410012992.6). The structure and transmission theory of the end face harmonic gear drive of oscillating teeth is introduced. The motion state and stress of the shifting pair of the end face harmonic gear drive of oscillating teeth is analyzed. And the results are as follows:(1) According to the theoretical tooth face ,the bit shift speed and acceleration expression are analyzed. And the necessity of modification is indicated.(2) The motion state of the oscillating teeth is analyzed. And bit shift - speed and acceleration expression are deduced in the condition of modification and no modification. The influencing factor of acceleration is discussed.(3) The force analysis of the single oscillating tooth are done, and the formula is deduced. Two sorts of stresses of the shifting pair between the oscillating teeth and sheave guide groove are researched, and the transmission efficiency of the shifting pair are discussed.(4) The main cause of the failure of the shifting pair is analyzed, and the method of solving the problem of failure is given, that is the oscillating teeth must satisfy single-sided contact stress, and the structure condition of ensuring single-sided contact stress is deduced.(5) The stress of the shifting pair is analyzed after the theory tooth face of the engage pair is repaired. The structure condition of the shifting pair of preventing single-sided contact is deduced. It provides a theoretical basis for the structural design of the shifting pair of the end harmonic gear drive of oscillating teeth.Besides, the shifting pair's main subjects which will be researched further of are discussed in this paper, and the results obtained provides a theoretical basis for the structural design of the shifting pair of the end harmonic gear drive of oscillating teeth, and it provides good basis for the manufacture and popularization of the new kind of the oscillating teeth drive.
