The end face harmonic gear of oscillating teeth is one a latest inventions, which contains the advantages of the common harmonic gear drive and the oscillating tooth. There will be a great future of applying it to mine, mechanism, metallurgy and construction areas, which need large transmission ratio and power. According to the document retrieval results, the reports of this device are little, and the researches are the latest in the world.This paper expatiated the traditional harmonic gear and oscillating tooth drive briefly, introduced the structure, composition, driving principle and the meshing-state geometrical model of the end face harmonic gear of oscillating teeth. The stress of the engagement pair between the front-end oscillating teeth and the end face gear, and between the rear-end of oscillating teeth and the cam of the wave producer, are both researched. The conclusions are as follows:(1) The regularity of the total meshing area of the engagement pair between the front-end of oscillating teeth and the end face gear is researched based on the meshing-state geometrical model. Focusing on the single-tooth and the multiple-teeth mode, the relation between the number of the oscillating teeth and the wave number are analyzed. And the equations are also deduced, the periodical regularity of the total meshing area is determined.(2) The regularity of the total meshing area of the engagement pair between the rear-end of oscillating teeth and the wave producer is analyzed, respectively in the sing-tooth mode and the multiple teeth mode. The equation and the regularity are obtained.(3) The stress of the oscillating teeth are researched, the front-end engagement pair's normal force's calculating formula is deduced, as well as the rear-ends(4) Based on the conclusion above, the equations of the theories specific pressure are deduced, and it has been compared with the straight gears in a calculating example.(5) After the theories surface modified, the contact stress of the engagement pairs are researched, when it is in the line-contacting areas. The equations of the contact stress of the engagement pairs are deduced, when it is in the hazardous conditions, according to the formula of Hertz.This paper also analyzed and expected the profound researches of the intensity of the engagement pairs, and some of them are simply discussed. The theories researched of the intensity of this device laid a foundation to constructing a full standard and intensity theories of the end face harmonic gear of oscillating teeth, and the conclusions could be used as the given theories.
