With the fast development of economy and the improvement of channel conditions, the freight volume of freshwater is on the increase. Many of the old ship locks cannot meet the use, and their traffic capacity needs to be enhanced. The analysis of traffic capacity and the research on the rebuilding scheme appear urgent Based on the Yushan ship lock, this paper systematically and studies its traffic capacity, forecasts its reasonable freight volume, and analyses the present condition of its hydro project, lock gate and headstock gear. Besides, the characteristic water level is put forward by studying the plan "Channel the water from Yangtze River to Taihu Lake", and the traffic capacity effects of ship types and management styles are also discussed. Finally, this paper compares and contrasts the technical and economic aspects of the lock gate types, lock head structures, hoisting device and electric equipments, and puts forward a better rebuilding blue print for the Yushan ship lock.
