The Study Of Influence On Channel Traffic Capacity By Navigation Of Very Large Ship

With the improvement and extension of port facilities,especially of very large ship dock completed and been put into operation,a growing number of very large ship will be poured into the existing channel which will cause the water traffic environment become increasingly crowded and complicated In order to develop the port operation capacity,keep vessel navigation and operation safety as well as improve the efficiency of navigation,it is necessary to research the traffic capacity and the influence on traffic flow by navigation of very large ship.It is certainly that the navigation of very large ship will have influence on traffic capacity due to its special ship safety domain,maneuverability and behaviors against normal vessel.The marine traffic system,especially combined with port,berth and anchorage,is restricted by many realistic conditions which cannot be taken into consideration of traffic capacity calculation by traditional mathematical analysis methods.Therefore,large deviations compared to real traffic capacity will be aroused after calculation.With the development of computer technology,computer simulation technology has been applied into the calculation and evaluation of traffic capacityby more and more scholars.This paper analyzes the existing research results of traffic capacity,traffic flow theories,marine traffic simulation technology,the scale of very large ship and its operational characteristics by collecting and gathering the existing available literatures.At the same time,both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods about the influence on traffic capacity by navigation of very large ship have been established,which enable the department concerned to do traffic capacity assessment according to different traffic conditions.In this paper,the scale of very large ship is defined firstly.Then simulated vessel is selected as the research object and traffic flow simulation model has been established as well as the evaluation index of navigation safety and efficiency combining with practical experience of maritime majors.Using both qualitative and quantitative methods to study the influence on traffic capacity by navigation of very large ship.At last,suggestions of improving traffic capacity are promoted.
