The Research On Traffic Impact In Downtown Arce Due To Urban Expansion

The area of downtown is key part of urban structure and is an ingredient of urban function. Due to its characteristic of absorbing huge passenger flow and traffic flow, it results in a great deal of congestion. With the urban development and population growing, the urban expansion will become inevitable trend. The change on urban structure will result in new problems on urban transportation system.The paper first introduces the theory of development of urban and downtown. From the viewpoints of graphical position, function and access, this paper analyzes the relationship between urban and downtown. On the basis of this analysis, this paper discusses the essence of urban traffic problems in downtown. Furthermore this paper presents the theory analysis framework of urban expansion impact on the traffic system in downtown area.This paper also represents trip generation model in downtown area by analyzing the relationship between the residents' location and trip generation based on the location, function and access. Using this model, this paper describes the impact of urban expansion on the traffic system in the downtown area. With the analysis of traffic volume in the downtown, this paper represents traffic improvement method in downtown area considering the combination of urban structure, land use, transportation infrastructure and traffic management.
