Experiments And Application Of Roller Compacted Concrete For Guangdong Shankou Dam

Damming technology with roller compacted concrete has been developed in these two decades. Developed for more than 20 years, roller compacted concrete has been applied to various dams and different climatic situations. And the simplicity and economical feature of roller compacted concrete are under further exploration.Based on the application of damming technology of roller compacted concrete to Shankou Gravity Dam in Shixing County of Guangdong Province, the thesis chiefly deals with the development of roller compacted concrete, the performance to the raw materials of roller compacted concrete, the performance of roller compacted concrete, the design of mix proportion of roller compacted concrete, the parameters of construction, the construction technology and its quality control. In Shankou Power Station, big hanging templates, vacuum delivery conduits and oblique layers placing method have been employed in the construction, which turned out to be effective. The combination of roller compacted concrete layers is the key issue. In Shankou Power Station, optimized mix proportion of roller compacted concrete has been used. The employment of vacuum delivery conduits prevents, oblique layers placing method has shortenIt is very hot in Guangdong. It is unavoidable that the construction is undertaken in hot days. With the guidance of some experts, some measures such as adjusting the mix proportion of concrete, adding efficient superplasticizer and precooling materials, which can reduce the temperature when the concrete is placed, and reinforcing the maintenance of concrete surface, are taken. And it has noticeable result.Damming with roller compacted concrete is quick and economical. Damming technology has been developing and improving. With the solution to such problems as quality of combination between the layer and the ground and the control of temperature, it is believed that there will be a wide prospect for roller compacted concrete.
