It is important to make inspection on facilities of a power substation in its routine work.Too long inspection period may easily lead to accidents and increased economic loss forfacility bugs can't be discovered in time. However, too short inspection period may lead togreat waste of both human and material resources. Thus fixing on an appropriate inspectionperiod is especially important in ensuring a power substation's running safely andeconomically. In this paper a simulation method used for making decision of inspectionperiod is presented. AHP method is used to calculate weights of A,B and C fault for theinspection period. The reliability functions of power transformer, CT, PT, circuit-breakersand disconnectors are got based on the information from the components of thefacilities ,with the help of Monte-Carlo simulation, Fault Tree Analysis. Finally we canget the inspection period under different reliability level. It is suitable for Condition BasedMaintenance , which provides the inspection crew an effective tool for decision.
