Nowadays, as China accelerates its urbanizing process, the need for public space has grown greater and greater for both cities and their inhabitants. However, the public buildings, which bear the majority of the citizens' social life, do not express their publicity adequately. The main embodiment of this trend is that the design and the construction are negligent of human behavioral factors, resulting in a deficiency of public life and public place possessing the "place-spirit". This thesis will focus on the following two problems, One is how to give due consideration to both civic buildings' established intentional functions and citizens' demand for publicity. The other is how to extend the publicity, which ,traditionally, is embodied only in outdoor space. It is in the above-mentioned background that the notion of composition form in this thesis is brought forward, which creates communicating space, advocates combining communicating behavior with intentional behavior in the public buildings, reveals citizens' publicity furthest and inaugurates a new civic life. This thesis first defines and derives the concept of composition form , then analyzes its forming, operating, and evolving mechanism, and thenmakes some researches on design methods of its concrete aspect. Also, some measures to dispose and remedy the later effects of the construction of the composition form are presented to realize the constructional integration of the composition form. Finally, a detailed study of the Case is done to analyze and verify the construct method of composition form's virtue and feasibility in designing the public buildings.
