The indexing cam mechanisms have been widely used in the automaticmachine, such as printing and packing because of advantages of compact structureand accurate motion. But there are some disadvantages when producing andapplying the mechanisms. Therefore, many scholars make a further study on it.Firstly, in this dissertation, a general method of innovating mechanisms isproposed on the basis of the function-technique matrix. The transmission process ofthe new-style indexing cam mechanisms are shown by computer simulation. Basedon the theory of planetary gear drive, a planetary intermittent mechanism ispresented.Secondly, kinematics and statics of the planetary intermittent mechanism arestudied. The cam's profile equation is given by the principle of reversion and therules that the affection the design parameters making on the cam's profile areanalyzed.Finally, the intensity of the mechanism is analyzed. The balance of the cam andthe mechanism is also studied.The function-technique matrix model of the intermittent mechanism presentedin this dissertation has the characters of clear concept and universality. It is suitablefor not only the planar mechanisms but also the spacial ones. It is a reference for thedesign and further study of the intermittent mechanism. At the same time, theplanetary intermittent mechanism proposed in this dissertation has the advantages ofcompact structure, strong transmission torque and coaxial input and output, andbuild a foundation for the further study of the high speed and high precisionintermittent mechanism.
