Double-ring planetary indexing cam is a new type of intermittent mechanism, which has several advantages, including simple structure, smaller volume, large indexing number, high load-capacity and without output mechanism, so its application prospect is extensive.Based on the presentation of the transmission principle of the new mechanism, the acting force and intensity of the mechanism are analyzed, and a new design method is proposed. The manufacture of prototype and experiment are also performed.Firstly, based on the introduction of the transmission principle of three ring reducer, the transmission principle of double-ring planetary indexing cam is presented in this thesis. In order to reduce the influences of vibration and noise caused by shaking force and shaking moment, the balance of the mechanism is analyzed.Secondly, the forces of inner cam rings, planetary bearings, counter weights and input shaft are solved after the acting force between the cam and the rollers has been calculated. Not only the contact strength between the cam and the rollers is discussed, the flexural strength and rigidity of the rollers are also discussed.Thirdly, this thesis focuses on the presentation of the basic process and main content of the design of double-ring planetary indexing cam. It also introduces the choice of basic parameter, the design of cam profile and inner cam ring, the choice of planetary bearing. Moreover, the design process is demonstrated with an example.Finally, the design and manufacturing of a prototype is performed. All the parts are newly designed. The performance of the prototype indicates that the new mechanism is feasible. The vibration and noise of the prototype are measured and analyzed when the balance weight is mounted or not. The experiment result proves that balance is necessary to noise and vibration reduction.
