Outdoor thermal environment researching in mountainous city has an important effect on the quality of outdoor thermal environment and the thermal comfort of people, which is very useful for optimizing the planning of mountainous cities and theirs function districts. But because of its large scale and complex affected factors, outdoor thermal environment in mountainous city has been only researched qualitatively and there are some difficulties of its numerical simulation. Aimed at describe the characteristics of the outdoor thermal environment in mountainous city, the author wants to apply the numerical simulation of outdoor thermal environment to projects of planning and design. Several issues are studies in the paper:Firstly, we confirm the advantages of applying numerical simulation in outdoor thermal environment by contrasting simulation and other means, and analyze some math models which are often used in outdoor thermal environment simulations. We also put forwards the basic equations of PHOENICS which are used in outdoor thermal environment simulations and their arithmetic and the solving.Secondly, we get the information of temperature and wind field of Chongqing university campus A by testing in summer and winter and simulating. And we analyze the effects of different types of ground surface (pool, grassplot, mud, concrete plastic) upon thermal environment.Thirdly, we study the temperature and wind field around the newly-built high-rise building(main teaching building) in Chongqing University campus A in spring and summer by testing and simulation. We analyze the effect of the building on wind field and the building's shadow and heat releasing of air conditioner change the temperature field. We also simulate the nature ventilation of standard floor of the building in spring preliminarily.Fourthly, combined with the project that city planning of Yunyang new county repair, we simulate the thermal environment of Yunyang as a whole at morning, noon and evening in a summer day. We compare the thermal environment of Yunyang between the Changjiang River's water line was low and high. We also analyze and Observation the advantages and disadvantages about thermal environment of some districts in Yunyang and give some assistant advice to planning from the point of outdoor thermal environment.
