Accompanying the nation's sustaining and fast economic growth, China's demand for energy, oil in particular, increased continually. But the slow increase of domestic oil output couldn't meet the needs for oil consumption. The gap of oil supply and oil demand can only be balanced by importing. At present china's tanker fleet is undertaking the mission of oil import shipping. However in the process of oil transportation, in order to guarantee unloading to cargo oil successfully when ships arrives the goal port, usually cargo oil must be heated and heat preservation, which meets the requirement of cargo oil's unloading. The main purpose of this paper is to study the circs of flow field during the course of cargo oil's heating and heat preservation, to discuss heat transfer mechanisms in the process of oil tanker transportation. This paper uses the CFD method, in view of concrete model oil tanker, The writer makes use of CFD Software FLUENT to put up numerical simulation of cargo oil's flow field distribution during the course of cargo oil's heating and heat preservation, obtain the distribution chart of cargo oil's field of velocity and temperature. Through the contrast analysis between value obtained by the software computation and the actual test value and idiographic test, the discussion of heat transfer mechanism;draws the conclusion that natural convection plays the decisive role in the process of heat transmitted by the steam to cargo oil.In the end, aiming at two different aspects of cargo oil's physical nature and external factors, the paper analyzes the effect of cargo oil's heating and heat preservation for the different conditions. Therefore, putting up simulation of cargo oil's flow field during the course of cargo oil's heating and heat preservation, to know flow field distribution in cargo tank;the discussion of heat transfer mechanism;the analysis of detailed factors which influence the effect of cargo oil's heating and heat preservation, it plays an important role in how to control the heating time, save the energy, reduce the transportation cost. In short, by this, one hand, it can supply the simulation calculation model to help the engineer strengthen the operation of that aspect.On the other hand, it can supply the theory basis for ship transportation.
