High-rise apartments have become the mainstream of the residence in shanghai.As the improvement of the peoples'living standards, the demand for residence shifts from the function to comfort. People call for residence of eco-friendly, energy-efficient and people oriented. Low technological element following bad indoor thermal environment in most of the residence, which can't meet with the need of thermal insulation and heat preservation in certain areas. The residence becomes the leading position in the cost of energy.The energy cost in architecture has taken a major proportion of global resources. More and more attention fixing on the cost of products and environmental problems, sustainable development comes into being the leading ideas in architectural design. First of all, modern residence should not only ensure the need for healthy and comfort, but also minimize the cost of nature resources. Solar Energy Technology has been put into practice in the field of architecture in different countries, and the European, the U.S.A. and Japan have led the way of this emerging technology integrated into the buildings.Most areas in china create a situation in utilizing the solar energy. With the priority in economic, social and technical conditions, Shanghai also has the advantage in using of the solar energy in high-rise buildings. That will be the key in the residential construction in shanghai.The thesis focus on the methodology of solar energy integrated with the high-rise residence from passive type, active type and synthetical utilization of solar energy. Last, some advises are presented according to the studies of the problems and future development on utilizing the solar energy.
