The crisis of energy sources and pollution of the environments have brought rigorous challenge for the stable development of the automobile industry of the world. As the representative of the automobiles with new energy, the electric vehicle indicates the development direction for the automobile of the future. The research and application of the simulation technique in the electric vehicle design shorten the design period and save the research outlay.As the two most representative simulation structures of electric vehicle, both the facing-forward simulation and the facing-backward simulation have their own merits and shortcomings regardless of the modeling method or the simulation operation. By the comparison analyzing that integrates theory with example, this paper points out that the facing-backward simulation suits to be used at the primary design stage to guide the parts and control strategy choosing, but the facing-forward simulation is more suited to adjust and optimize the parts' parameters and control strategy to meet the application requirement of prototype vehicle at the late design stage.Firstly, this paper gave an analysis on the types and configurations of powertrain of electric vehicles, and summarized the characters of all the driving types and their working conditions. Secondly, introduced the modeling thought and modeling method of mostly parts of powertrain of parallel hybrid electric vehicles, analyzed the relation between the specific characteristics of power-output of driving system of electric vehicles and the request of travel power of electric vehicles, has established the entire vehicle dynamics model in this foundation, and has carried the control strategies which proposed in view of the two-axles-motor/motor and one-axle -engine/motor.Secondly, proposed the corresponding control strategy for the entire vehicle controller of the underground special vehicle according to its structure and arrangement characteristics, and built the controller simulation model and the entire vehicle dynamics model according to the characteristics of the facing-forward simulation, inserted in the Matlab and run the test, the simulation results conforms to the design requirements.Finally, built the simulation model of the one-axle-and-one-motor configurations of powertrain based on the underground special vehicle and run the test under the same conditions as the underground special vehicle, the results indicated the two-axles-motor/motor configurations of powertrain by the underground specialvehicle has good performance on energy-saving, environmental-protection, dynamic and off-load.
