There are two major challenges, environmental pollution and energy crisis, faced by the continual development of automotive industry in the 21st Century. Developing new type vehicles with higher fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions has become a primary task in the automotive industry at present. Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), which inherits the advantages of both the conventional internal combustion engine vehicle and the pure electric vehicle, has become an important developing direction of energy-saving and clean vehicles in recent years. Control strategy, as one of the key techniques of HEV, is regarded as the soul of HEV. The research on control strategy has important practical significance. On the background of the key scientific and technological special item of Henan– key technologies development and industrialization of energy-saving and new energy city bus, one kind of parallel hybrid electric vehicle prototype is taken as research platform and"V"development method is adapted to study control strategy of HEV in this dissertation.In view of the problems of traditional development method for HEV, advanced modern development method based on V mode was adapted and the modern development platform of control strategy for PHEV was established in this dissertation.Forward-facing simulation model of HEV, including vehicle model, engine model, battery model, electric motor model, clutch model, transmission model, brake model, driver model and cockpit model, was built in the CRUISE environment. The HEV model was validated indirectly by adapting overall validation to compare reference vehicle's simulation with its road test results.According to structural features of HEV prototype and characteristic of the key powertrain parts, surrounded with the three methods– optimal control of engine, idle-stop and regenerative braking, especially on the basis of deep research on the idle-stop control strategy, control strategy model of HEV was established in MATLAB/Simulink and the vehicle performance was analyzed by co-simulation.Rapid control prototyping test was developed based on dSPACE, the real-time simulation system, and the function of control strategy was verified. C code was rapidly generated by using the software TargetLink provided by dSPACE, which shortened the period of development. Road test of HEV was done in Xiangfan Proving Ground, and the results of test showed that the power performance of HEV was equal to that of reference vehicle, and fuel economy based on China urban driving-cycle could be observably improved by 24.94%.
