Study On Matching Technology About Electronic Fuel Injection System And Three-way Catalyst For Motorcycle

Using electronic fuel injection system (EFI) and three-way catalyst (TWC) is an effective method to meet more and more emission regulations. EFI system can control accurately air/fuel ratio to improve combustion, so that achieve good power performance, economy performance and emission performance. TWC is the most important after-treatments in gasoline engine. They can reduce again emissions. The optimization between EFI and TWC make engine work well with lowest emissions and power.In this paper, a matching platform for a Model LH150 four stroke motorcycleengine is set up and an electronic fuel injection system is designed. The design of the electronic fuel injection system include the fuel supply system design, the intake pipe and throttle body design, the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) developing, the way to use sensor of the system and the means to deal with sensor signal. A matching system, which can adjust engine operate parameters real time and watch on the engine operation condition, is designed too to accelerate the engine matching process. Base on such system, the fuel injection MAP and advanced ignition angle are achieved by matching test.This paper describes generation and development of three-way catalyst, and introduces structure, performance guide line and evaluation methods for current three-way catalysts. Base on actual using situation about motorcycle, one three-way catalyst is chosen to match the developed EFI system.This paper presents match way between EFI system and TWC for motorcycle. The fuel injection MAP is revised through match tests, which used oxygen sensor to monitor A/F fluctuation, on engine bed. That makes TWC worked well under good situation. The flowing characteristic of catalyst is optimized by simulationcalculation and ANSYS soft ware by compute. It is successful that TWC matched well with exhaust system.Engine bed and prototype motorcycle test indicated that developed EFI system and TWC matched well so that sample motorcycle can meet EuroIII emission regulation.
