The main object of studying in urban planning is urban space. With the rapid development of urban, the urban spatial structure and morphology is adjusting and accommodate. The guide of urban special structure form's rational increase and control measure are propitious to prevent urban space form spreading out of order, helping develop reasonable form of urban special structure and enhancing the comprehensive quality of citiesThe eastern region of northwest China, as the chiefly important development region in the Western Development, is facing with speeding up industrialism and urbanism. The urban spatial expand rapidly and urban special structure and morphology adjust hurge. The middle or small-scale cities, as the principal part of urban system, have wasted too much resources through extensive growth and make it impossible to upgrade construction level, even hindranced them sustainable development. Therefore, understand objectively present situation of the middle or small-scale cities in the eastern region of northwest China, and analyze rationally the trend of the urban spatial structure and morphology evolution, then it can provides the research direction for reasonable planning.The thesis puts the Weinan and Guyuan cities as the study subject. Bacing on internal and externak interrelated urban special structure and morphology theories, this paper researched on the mechanism with urban spatial expansion of the two cities and the development characteristics of urban special structure and morphology. Finally the dissertation analyses the practice and cases of urban and gives some advice about the urban spatial development of middle or small-scale cities in the eastern region of northwest China, so as to adapt to their sustainable development.
