Study On The Regulatory Urban Design Of Typical Blocks In Small-scale Cities In Northwest China

Since the new century, China’s undertakings have made remarkable achievements,especially the level of urbanization is gradually improved. However, in this largercontext, we can not ignore a series of problems arising with the rapiddevelopment.For example,the imbalances of regional development,the widening ofthe gap between rich and poor,and transfer of rural surplus labor and so on socialhotspots. Under this background, the exploration and ponder of the development ofthe Northwest Small Cities are extremely important and urgent. The core problem ofa small city is to solve the problem of the development of his blocks. Futuredevelopment of our small city block should never again stop at the point only to solvea series of short-term negative phenomenon which is brought by enhancing manysocial and economic short-term interests. However,we should make moreconsideration on the premise that how to meet the basic people’s production and lifeto look back those cultural and spiritual connotations attached to the city. So thisrequires that we should start from the real needs of urbanneighborhoods’development. By means of rational planning to seek a reasonablesolution.Paper used a frontier research methods that compatible with the discipline. Throughin-depth analysis of historical and cultural resources, the development status, thedevelopment direction of future of Dali city, we draw the typical problems faced byneighborhoods studied. We collected and analyzed the theory case that the westerndeveloped countries have studied relatively maturely. Further, we compared with local representative case and referenced them. Based on an urban design perspective,we proposed the impact elements adapted to the block. We explored neworganizational models of he block’s structure, resources and forms. Thus we summedup a complete design approach which can improve the environmental qualitytechnical line and supportive elements of urban neighborhoods. And then we found anew development model to express the characteristics of the neighborhoods and toenhance the culture of it. The ultimate aim is to explore a suitable technology road forthe sustainable development of Dali city neighborhoods and even other small citiesthroughout the Northwest.
