Study On The Space Development Model Of Northwest Underdeveloped Areas And Small Cities

Small Northwest area includes Gansu Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province, which are the most economically underdeveloped areas of China except Tibet and Hainan province. In the small northwestern region, we need accelerate the process of urbanization, and initially form the extensive system of towns, promoting regional economic integration, which calls for the development of large cities, while actively developing small cities. Situated in the northwest region, however, the industrial base and economic levels of small northwest area are relatively weak, the urban infrastructure is imperfect. So it's difficult to attract investment, and the ecological environment is not good, it is difficult to restore once the damage. The development conditions are far behind the eastern coastal areas. And the economic development, planning and construction, we cannot just simply use the development mode of China's developed areas. So it's necessary to adjust measures to local conditions, and combine the development trend of China's urban space, to find the scientific space development mode for urban development in underdeveloped regions.The thesis studied the planning and construction process of typical small cities in the small northwestern region, analyzed the problems that exist in the process of urbanization and urban construction, researched the theory and mode on the development of urban space, learned from the experience of space development in China's eastern coastal cities, combined the current practice in our urban planning, and found out the root cause from the urban areas of the low level of urbanization and the lack of vitality in the northwest city. The thesis focused on how to guide the urban planning and construction rationally through the city spatial planning of the less-developed areas in the small northwestern cities, how to build the spatial development mode which is consistent with the actual situation in the area. In this way, the building of the city is acting as a focal point. This mode will lead the population by decentralization, contribute to the intensification of economic and social development; create a healthy and orderly urban space, promote the readjustment of the industrial structure, promote economic development and the process of urbanization and also the construction of the ecological environment, vigorously develop urban landscape. The rise of urban landscapes and the combined effects of population will lead to the protection of the ecological environment and returning farmland to forest and pasture, so that the functions of the cities and the space structure will become more reasonable, and will provide social services with good qualities, create a good business environment for residents and enterprises.
